We are thrilled to announce that Madison Crossing Elementary has been recognized by Reach MS as a PBIS Tier 1 Model Site for the 2024-2025 school year! This achievement reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and community in fostering a positive and supportive school environment through School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS).

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the hard work of our PBIS team, teachers, staff, students, and families. Over the past year, we have established clear expectations, reinforced positive behaviors, and built a strong system to support student success. Our collective efforts have significantly impacted school culture, and we are proud to be recognized as a model for other schools across the state!

What Does This Recognition Mean?

REACH MS is Mississippi’s State Personnel Development Grant and is operated by the University of Southern Mississippi’s School of Education which supports school-wide and district-wide implementation of PBIS. PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a proactive approach to promoting positive behavior, increasing student engagement, and creating a school culture that supports all learners.  Achieving Tier 1 Model Site status means our school has successfully implemented consistent, research-based PBIS strategies that create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment for all students.

We know you have heard about brag tags, classroom rewards and incentives (for K-1st graders), the PBIS store (for 2nd through 5th graders), and PBIS parties from your student, and we know you reviewed student behavior tracking charts and seen our expectation charts posted throughout the school - that is all a part of our approach!  As parents/guardians, you play an integral role in our approach, and we appreciate your commitment to your student's education.

Rewards

As part of this recognition, our school will receive:

  • A $500 incentive for attaining Model Site status

  • A PBIS Model Site banner to proudly display in our school

  • Lapel pins for our staff as a token of appreciation for their dedication

  • Placement on the official statewide list of PBIS Model Sites, allowing other schools to visit MCE and learn from our example

Looking Ahead

While we are proud of this achievement, we remain committed to continuous improvement and student success. We will continue refining our PBIS practices, celebrating student achievements, and fostering a school community where every student feels supported and valued.

We are incredibly grateful for the recognition and look forward to inspiring other schools on their PBIS journey. Thank you to our entire school community for making this possible!
